The goal of Workforce Readiness is to develop and deploy community projects to support those in need of HR professional skills including resume building, interviewing, job coaching, dress for success workshops and job referrals. Our committee also serves as a sponsor for programs that have a direct effect on helping challenged candidates obtain employment.
Along with community partners, we will assist students, veterans, and ex-offenders be successful in finding and keeping a job.
Here are just some of the things we worked on last year:
· We will be working with Tallahassee Community College with their Career Fest and Resumania events to help prepare students for resume writing, interviewing, job success and more!
· Work with local prison re-entry programs (Federal Correctional Institute in Tallahassee and Gadsden Correctional Institute in Quincy) to assist soon-to-be-released inmates succeed in their job search and in resuming life.
· Assist the homeless in conjunction with City Walk Urban Mission in finding self-sufficient employment
Workforce Readiness needs volunteers for our events, no one can do it alone. We are planning on involving College Relations as well, to give the students some real world experience. Updates to our programs will be on our website, announced in our monthly meetings and posted on Big Bend SHRM’s social media pages.
